About Harvest

In September, Chuck Pierce gave a word to North and South Carolina in which he prophesied an unlocking wind coming. Chuck went on to tell how the Carolinas had lost its call to its harvest field.

In hearing this Word of the Lord to us, I turned my thoughts and prayer to the harvest. The scripture has much to say about the harvest. About reaping and sowing, about wise and good stewardship. Matthew 9:35-38, John 4:35, Genesis 8:22

Luke 10:1-2 was the first scripture that came to my mind around gathering the harvest.

In the Voice Bible this scripture reads, "The Lord then recruited and deployed 70 more disciples. He sent them ahead, in teams of two, to visit all the towns and settlements between them and Jerusalem. This is what He ordered.

Jesus: There’s a great harvest waiting in the fields, but there aren’t many good workers to harvest it. Pray that the Harvest Master will send out good workers to the fields.

Couple of things jumped out to me. First, the fact that the Lord recruited and deployed. I believe Chuck's word carried an admonition of the Lord to us. A reminder of sorts, we are His, God's recruits and our eyes are to be on the harvest… the harvest is waiting. Merriam Webster says of recruits, these are suitable people who join a company, an organization, the armed forces. Recruits are utilized to form or build (a group, team, army) by getting people to join.

AND the Lord is stirring us yet a gain... be deployed. Deploy meaning troops moving into military position for action; taking your position, post, place. Deploy also means to be utilized and brought into effective action. We are being deployed into the harvest field.

At Harvest Time we work the fields; the good workers go to gather in what has moved from seed form to something now fully in view (waiting). Seasons; Seedtime to Harvest.

In the above scripture, Jesus ordered the 70 to go out sent by Him and be good workers. Twice He says, "be good workers."

The other point that jumped off the page is in verse 2. Pray the Harvest Master will send the workers to the fields. We can partner in prayer and in action with the one who is the Master of the Harvest. Here I am Lord send me.

God called the disciples to go by His Spirit and gives grace for the work to be accomplished. Time to see what we could not see before... including the lost, the hurting, the needy.

To bring in a fruitful harvest will require faithful laborers. Each one of us can play a part in seeing that those needing to be brought in, will be added to the Kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 3:5-9 Paul writes, “What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord gave opportunity to each one. I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth. Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers ( good workers; WE WORK FOR GOD); you are God’s field, God’s building.”

Luke 10 continues to show us what progressed as the 70 were sent forth.

It’s time for you 70 to go. In verse 3 I’m sending you out armed with vulnerability, like lambs walking into a pack of wolves. They most likely were not welcomed in some areas with open arms

HOWEVER, in verse 11 the kingdom of God has come near...

The disciples, as they were sent would be both givers and receivers.

In their willingness to go... they benefited by seeing God do great things. In tending to the harvest field the disciples would see God's kingdom manifest among them. These would experience the heart of God for the lost and dying. Christ's heart of compassion would manifest and be carried into regions and territories so that lives were transformed.

SO what have we missed in not having our eyes on the field; not gathering in the harvest?

We have not been connecting with the compassion of Jesus; our hearts have not stirred with compassion, not experienced the joy of Salvation, not witnessed the healing of every disease and sickness, bondage broken and people delivered. We have missed experiencing HIS KINGDOM COMING NEAR WITH miracles, signs and wonders.

A ripe wheat harvest would be golden in color, often waving in the wind inviting harvest… PRAY TO THE HARVEST MASTER SEND US FORTH AS LABORERS IN HIS FIELD. THE HARVEST IS RIPE.
